More wedding preparations :: 19:12

Filed under: Life in general, English

Practically all of today was spent in wedding preparations,…or preparing to these preparations. Today we had a crafts day with my bestmen, who both richly deserve the emphasis.

I started this day by making prototype of the card and marking up the measurements on what the pieces were to be cut to. Thank goodness that Antti, the clever man he is, enough to make a cut-out measure (sapluuna, sabloona whatever that is in English) based on the first ones. With this approach we managed to make about sizty invitation cards in something less than four hours. No small credit goes to Murre who for the duration of the time he was able to attend worked like maniac, trying to keep up with somekind of a competition they had about emptying/filling a stack of done/ to-do stuff. See why I call them my bestmen, with that particular emphasis.

The working phases for a card were

  1. Measure the individual cards on the carton-sheet
  2. Cut out the cardboard (One sheet of cardboard made for 9 cards and some leftovers )
  3. Measure and Cut out the picture for a card (2 on 1 sheet and we had managed to make that sheet asymmetrical)
  4. Same thing for the text of the invitation
  5. Glue the picture on one side of the card (try to get it to the center)
  6. Glue the text on the other side of the card (try to get it to the center)

In addition to working on the invitations I cooked for us, due to the nature of this day the food was tortillas, which are low on the workload and up on the fun and tastiness sectors. Antti seemed to enjoy it. In addition to tortillas we served our helpfull friends coffee, tea, vanilla-sweetbread and for a salty snack carelian pies with a variety of toppings. We got rid of the sweetbread, but it seems that I’m living with carelian pies tomorrow. Feel bit bad about “tuputus” we made our friends suffer, but I don’t think they actually minded.

M has been writing up the envelopes, which of course consists of not only writing the address and decorating the envelope, but often enough hounding the address from the net/archives/ friend / relative. This has led to good things as well, as while I was making one of these “what’s your addy” calls, I ended up inviting a friend to visit us on some night next week, hope it works out :)

A busy day, but now I do feel very good about it and M seems to be feeling likewise. Happy, joyfull… Actually, today it seems we have both been particularily happy about, and preparing of the upcoming wedding. Our wedding.

Now we’re both quite tired, so I join M on enjoying the SW KOTOR II.

Life is good, tomorrow catching up on my other job that should be finnished by the end of this month.
